Required: OSHA 300 Log Summary Must Be Posted Now Through April 30, 2020

The OSHA 300 Log Summary is a form that must be completed by employers and displayed in an area that is visible to all employees. The summary form records the annual summary, by type, of all applicable injuries or illnesses that occur in the workplace and does not identify injured employees. It must be posted every year between February 1st and April 30th.

Some businesses are required to report this information to OSHA as well. See the list of industries and classifications below and as always, contact the experts at HRinDemand if you would like assistance with the processing of your OSHA 300 Log.

Which Businesses are Exempt

Some employers may be exempt from OSHA’s recordkeeping rules, for example, those with 10 or fewer employees during the previous calendar year and those classified in specific industries. If you are unsure whether your company or business is covered by the requirements, please see, OSHA’s website for regulations.

Maintaining Records

Participating businesses must keep records at the worksite for five years. Each spring, employers must post a summary of the injuries and illnesses recorded the previous year from February 1 to April 30. Also, if requested, copies of the records must be provided to current and former employees.

More information is provided on OSHA’s website.
